I haven't done any detecting in a while and thought I'd go over to the little school for a few swings. Got the usual stuff;
Foil, hair barettes, erasers, a dimes worth of cents and fourteen dimes. I did find a nice new Tampa Stingrays hat, too.
Any time you lay off detecting for a while, you have a re-acquaintence to go through - this time was no different. I was pleased to recall how good the ACE is at this sort of hunting:
1. It's nice and quiet until it signals a target.
2. It has SENS to spare. I ran really high until I got near the poles then dropped to 2-3. The high level wasn't needed this time, but it does help to pick out the really small goodies that show up in school yards. I did find a very small earring that was iffy at low levels
3. Foil, which is everywhere in a school yard, had it's own little signature response. Once you get to know the stuff, this is very helpful.
4. I really like the 3 Tone ID. I switched back and forth between AM and Jewelry at will. There is a lot of deep iron here and stuff like paper clips, so the iron tones are nice to have on tap. Hte ACE really worked well to help categorize target suite response.
5. The controls are easy to use. Just a few buttons here and there and you are reset anew. Sweeeeet!
6. Battery life is excellent. I havent used the thing in months and the batteries stayed on full the whole time!
I know this is all old news to you guys, but it was just refreshing to pick up the little ACE and relize what a whollop it packs for the little money it costs. No pics...the kids rode off on the car with my camera.
