ace 250 questions

Hi all, im just getting back into 'tecting after selling my older whites spectrum, anyway what i would like to know is a few things, is the 250 loud?, i kinda have trouble hearing the higher tones like say a digital watch alarm range, does the bell tone come thru clear and loud on the 250?
Is the consistancy between say one 250 and a couple others the same as in performance, guess what im asking is it possible to get a "hot" one as opposed to a normal one or are they all pretty even with each other in terms of performance.
Has anybody done a really good comparisan between say the lower end whites and tesoros and the ace 250 ?.........Monte?
And one more parting thought, really just a rant if you will, why do other boards and some forums really bash other detectors and what people like, I have seen some post almost downright nasty, i am like so many others have come back into detecting and come to these places for insight into what is good products that are on the market at a good price.
You start reading what some people have to say about a certain brand of detector....like 'it sucks' i wont sell them at my shop etc. when a good product comes to market that offers a lot for the money it should be welcomed with open arms. the only ones that benifit from good products for good prices are the consumers ....us..... we should learn to help each other out not create friction...
anywho sorry for the long opinion filled post but ...........i am glad to be back diggin in the dirt.
Oh and thanks Ron at dixie for getting my 250 out quick the man in brown said its supposed to be here tommorow hehe.

You are going to love the 250. If it's loud you want, loud is what you get with the 250. Get a set of 'phones with a Volume control cuz it's LOUD in all the tones!!
All the reports by 250 users seem to bear out that they are pretty consistant in performance. Different conditions will produce different results, so who knows. Just be glad you got one and go out and enjoy digging in the dirt again.

on the brand loyalists. I've written quite a few righteous screeds about the lunacy of brand loyalty. So many in fact I'll forego the temptation to write another simply because I can.
And so it goes with the internet bashing of machines people have never seen. They do it because they can. It's entirely too easy to sit back, safe from the world, and rail on and on about things you know nothing about. If challenged on any key point, the bashers can scurry off to google and find a position that supports their own, never mind that in many cases the references they provide (if any) were written by the same type of people.
We should all be playing on the same team (Metal Detectorists International) but we divide ourselve into self-supporting factions. The exact same thing goes on in the gun community, sporting clay shooters detest folks who use rifles (especially semi-automatic), those like myself who are long range target (and varmint!) shooters tend to recoil against the sporting clay "stuffed shirts", and no one seems to care about how destructive the infighting is to the community at large.
Key concept? Ignore the idiots, and relish the straight shooters. If someone wouldn't want to go detecting with someone else because of the type of machine they own, is that a guy (or gal) worthy of gracing with our presence? Certainly not.
Have a great time with the 250, it's a great little machine that is fast becoming a phenomenon in it's own right.
