ACE 250 questions

Ok, I just got my 250 and have a couple of questions... First, it appears to have a fixed ground balance, so when I turn it on should it be in contact with the ground or in the air or does it matter? Second question, to hunt areas with tall grass, just how much depth will I lose? Will I lose the amount of inches that I am above the soil line?

The Ace is a fixed ground balanced machine. It doesn't matter where you turn it on.
The distance from the coil is all that matters. If you can, put a lawn mower or brush cutter over the site so that you can get your coil closer to the ground.

Keep the coil off the ground and yes you will lose depth equal to the height of the grass.
