Ace 250 Question - waterproofing?

I haven't had the pleasure of seeing a 250 yet, but with all the raves about it, I'm wondering how much trouble it would be to seal up. I'm thinking of just sealing all joints with silicon seal to enable the machine to withstand rain and perhaps being dropped in the water while detecting shallow beach areas?
Anyone with one of the machine want to try assessing how much trouble this would be? It may not be deep enough to warrant extreme modification, but it sounds like it would be lots of fun on a fresh water beach and in the shallows. But even at $200 I wouldn't want to risk getting it soaked.
Anyone want to discuss? I assume the battery area would have to be sealed, than reopened and re-sealed each time for the battery change.

I don't really think you could get the little Yeller Feller waterproof. Seems to me that the rocker switches on the front would not lend themselves to sealing.

Buy a used waterproof detector. Youll be better off.
The right tool for the job, in this case.

I don't think it would work. Water could easily get into the battery compartment, or through the slots for the speaker, the keypad, the headphone jack, etc.
the new Aces are pretty rain/splash-resistant, but if you're talking about submersing it... I'd say forget it. Find something that's designed to do that job.
