Ace 250 Question on mode selection.

I have the Ace 250 and it is good on coins, but what mode do you run your Ace in?
I run mostly in coin mode, but what mode or custom setup would be good for
old buckles, and mini-balls?

...and I have NOT (yet) with the Ace 250...but I hunt all-metal mode. I dig a bunch to find what I want to find.

There may be a custom mode application that someone has come up with, but I don't see where the relic or all-metal mode would not do just dandy.

I have had my Ace 250 about a month and am using it strictly on beaches so that I can pay for it quickly. Last week I found a nice ring with two diamonds on either side of a topaz. It is a class ring, 1991.:super: If I can't locate the lady, It should pay for the little feller hands down. But I WILL be doin' some relic hunting as it gets cooler. <><

Coin mode is great for coins. That is probably a good place to stay for a while until you get familiar with your machine and how it pinpoints, reads depth, reacts to coins. Of course, some people aren't coin hunters, and like to hunt relics. Relic hunters will usually dig everything that is deep. They often run their machines with no or little discrimination. Then there are others who like all types of hunting. So, when coin hunting, we disc out tinfoil, bottle caps etc. So, Garrett gave the option to the users of the ACE 250 to specifically program the machine to suit their needs. Also, people in different parts of the world also use the ACE 250, and their coins read in different places on the screen.

Hope this helps......:)

If you're hunting relics I'd run in all metal and dig everything. You never no whether you're going to come across a mini ball or a cannonball and discrimination mode ain't where you want to be looking for them.

I start out in the jewel mode. the ace 250 is a great jewel hunter. If the area Im hunting has just too much trash I switch to coins.

Hi John-Edmonton,

How do you like the ACE 250 on beaches?

Have you tried it on salt water soaked mud?

Please do tell.

Thanks,

Tim
