Ace 250 pinpoint trigger modification news

I have decided to add the pinpoint trigger modification myself. I'm not comfortable in selling a kit that some may find hard to install and give up. Right now I have all the parts to do several mods and have priced the mod very reasonable. I am also selling the stand modification on ebay if anyone is interested. For those of you that didn't read any past posts on the trigger. I terminate the thumb pinpoint/true all metal mode. Then I add a toggle (trigger) to the upper rod. If you pull it back it activates the pinpoint mode and when you release the toggle it moves to off. Then if you want to lock it in pinpoint/all metal mode you flip it forward and it stays there until pulled back. Just like most Whites detectors. You can hunt in the true all metal mode easily. While recovering a target you can just reach up and flip the toggle instead of using the thumb button. This mod renders the thumb button inopperable. But the trigger only takes minutes to become second nature to use. Thanks for looking. Kenny mowerdog@earthlink.com

Hummm. I haven't looked at the innerds or schematic,
but seems to me you could wire both the trigger switch,
and the stock panel switch in parallel and be able to
use either one. IE: I'd tack the two wires to the add-on
switch to the same two terminals as the stock switch,
leaving the stock switch intact. That way you could use
either one. But this assumes there is not some problem
that gives no access to the terminals, etc.
BTW, you would have to have the trigger switch in the "off"
position to use the panel switch, otherwise it would
jumper the stock switch.

This cannot be done. The buttons on the Ace are snap disc switches that are surface mounted. There is no place for the procedure you discribed. This is the main reason I need to do the modifications.
