several times over the last month i have hit the pin point button over a target and the 250 has taken the day offand won't play ball ,unless i turn it off and start again. then it doesn't remember where we were.frustrating wasn't one of the words i used ,i'm ashamed, but i am getting sick of this.the machine has found heaps of stuff .i think maybe it's warranty has nearly run out.i read all the posts and think maybe i might be doing something wrong ,short of wrappimg it around a near by tree.however i'm becoming a tourist attraction in cairns in fnq for the asian tourists who in their own countries have never seen somebody finding and pulling coins out of the ground .a lot of nodding heads when they unstand hai.my only wish is that some one had pointed towards this forum sooner, then i could have learned the 250 properly.not being told you'll figur it out . too many whiskey's i'll stop now ,time 2044hrs australia.

Hi Blowfly.
I know that you bought the detector from the Miners Den, but if you contact Phil Sternes of the Goldmining Centre in South Oz, he will be able to get the Ace sorted out for you. He's the Garrett importer, and you are holding one of the units that he imported. if it's a warranty job, then he is the man to see. I could have bought both my Garrett's from the US for less, but like the idea, that if something goes wrong or you need help, then it is at hand. He has helped me out in the last week sort out some learning issues that I was having with the 1500. Even if it's not a warranty job, he should be able to fix it for you for a modest fee. I hear your frustration; it's not a great way to be in a hobby. You will get a far better response from Phil than you have already gotten. If you want his number, I can send it to you via the PM link.
If you you have anything that you would like to learn about the Ace, then fire away. The Ace is actually quite a potent little detector. The more that I use the Ace, and other detectors, the more respect that I have for it. There are a ton of little tricks that you can do with it, that really gets the most out of it. It just keeps giving you more info, the more familiar you get with it.
Once you have the pinpoint button problem sorted out, and you have put the frustration of the situation behind you, then you will be able to enjoy a top little unit.
All the best.
Mick Evans.

Or you could try and cut down on the whiskey:drinking::rofl:

It could be as simple as having a bit of sand inside the housing and getting between the contact points of the pinpoint button. Unfortunately, the Ace is about as airtight as a sieve, so if you are doing a fair bit of beach work, you might want to consider an environmental cover for it to help keep the sand out of it.
Just a thought.
Mick Evans.
