Ace 250 Owners- Need Imput

I have used a ACE 250 before and had very good luck for coin shooting. I was not impressed with the Belltone. I realize this is a great detector for the money but how good do you folks think this detector is for a Primary coin and jewelry unit. I have a X-Terra 70 and I'm thinking of purchasing 250 for backup or change of pace unit. What kind of depth are you people getting on coins? Looking forward to your opinions on the ACE 250 and it's pro's and con's. Thanks Joe

The 250 will keep up with the big boys in good to average soil. I know because I have one of those so called expensive detectors. The 250 gets the call most of the time. I think you would be amazed at it's performance! I actually have 2 Ace 250's!

I am one of the few that doesnt go all ga-ga over the Ace. Frankly, I found it a bit hard to get used to and I;ve heard otehres respind the same way. I'm no newbie at this detecting stuff, either, and have used more detectors than I can count.
I like it mind you, and Charles Garrett did just what he said he would with it - he packed as many modern features as possible into a $200 detector.
It is a lot of instrument for the money. I'd call it the best of the lot in the price range. But, I personally wouldn't call it an all purpose, go-to detector.
The more deluxe models have features and capacity the Ace doesn't have...that's the bottom line.

As a back up or change of pace, it'll do. For a second unit with a large coil, it is a good idea - ditto with a sniper.
Would I consider it a good choice as primary? No.

For he price it's the best you can buy. It will perform right along with the big detectors and I have dug coins in bark chips at ten inches plus. It will detect deeper than it can pinpoint.

I have been using a Garrett GTA 350 for several years and have out proformed every one I have ever detected with , many have $1000 machines and are embarased to know that I paid less than $200 . I literly wore that thing out , and recently bought an Ace 250 ,The two are almost identical . I am a ferm believer that it is the " opperator" not the detector that make sucess. And like the GTA the Ace does take some getting used to but if you are patient and methotical in your search you will find that $200 is all it takes to be one of the many on here that can brag about their finds. I have located over three thousand coins and tokens not counting wheaties ,, one a 1884 $10 Gold Eagle. I really enjoy the computer doing all the work instead of me having to mess with all those knobs trying to set ground balance and discrimination settings . The computer will tell you if it is a good target by sounding off strongly in all four diections when you pass the coil in an X.. if it only sounds off in two diresctions then it is not locking on and will likly not be a coin ,, how ever I do try to dig every thing that is strong ,, never know might be a coin in the same hole with trash , this has happend to me befor and I was glad I dug it and now always wonder what was there if I dont and walk away ,,, any way there is my two cents worth . good luck out there and be safe

the more I use my ace the more familiar I am getting with it's abilities. I have put a LOT of hours on this machine already, normally 2 hours a day during the week and around 4-5 hours each weekend day. I have dug a couple coins at near 8" and that is not stretching it. Larger items are easily detected at a foot or more. Once you learn to pinpoint this machine totally rocks.

I praticed and praticed and now I can almost always dig a 2" plug to retrieve coins. This machine is very reliable, especially at $199 bucks!
