ACE 250 on the beach

Have any of you ever used the ACE 250 on the beach? I am mainly a coin and relic hunter but I want to start beach hunting. I think the ACE should do alright but I wanted your opinion. When you hunt the beach where do you usually start.....the high tide line?............Bill in NC

The 250 will work great on the DRY sand but it will not work on the wet sand. There are to many minerals in the salt water and it will just keep the 250 falseing all the time. I use mine at Va Beach in the dry sand and use a Sea Hunter for the wet sand and surf.

Start in the dry stuff and work your way to the wet sand. If your beaches don't have much mineralization you might be surprised how well you do. Keep the sens down 2,3,4. Since the ace has push button adjustments you can wrap the housing in clear food wrap to protect from the salt air and sand, this method works better than the weather hood Garrett sells.

You don't get a lot of depth that way with the 250. I have one and only use it for land hunting now. I do hear that the new ace 350 is supposed to be high mineral tolerant

I use the Ace 250 at the beach often, but only in the dry sand,as it falses too much in the wet sand.I have found a thousands of clad coins and a number of silver rings , gold rings and silver necklaces. My Ace 250 has paid for itself several times over.Good hunting,Ron

Use all metal and get use to the tones, at first i dug everything, but after using all metal for a while i don't even look at the scale. wet sand at 4 on sens. but their is a huge loss in depth . Don't waste you time in salt water. A lot of steel on the beach will show as silver and sound good , dig it anyway! The ace is awesome in dry sand ! Most of my finds come from the slopes after they have dried for a while. Remember, that if you get a strong signal, lift the coil off the target and if the tone fades then dig it, if it doesn't fade, most likely it's a aluminum can! Happy hunting!!!:garrett:

I've used my 250 for the last year in wet sand for the most part
Sens at 4 maybe 5
The short beeps are falsing
Good targets ring clear just like coin shooting
Last year got me three gold rings along with 3 silvers and I was a TOTAL beginner
It mite not be a beach tector but its what I got so I'm learning to use it
Good Luck
