ACE 250 Hunt Question

I typically hop around with my modes but I really like the custom mode eliminating the iron. Ive found a couple rings etc.....I find a ton of coins. What is the best mode to hunt in with the ACE 250 to find all types of items ? The ACE is great with coins but is there a mode that people love out there ? please advise.
Oh and thanks McDave.....your posts are awesome. You have helped me a lot.
Andrew

I generally run mine wide open. I like to hear everything. And for finding
"all types" of items, that would be the mode for me.
I don't mind hearing the iron. If it's there, I like to know about it in case
there could be masking issues, etc.. And.. I like many of the old iron relics.
I'm not really that big a coin hunter. I bought my machine mainly for checking
out old sites like homesteads, etc.. More of a relic hunter guess.

Thanks Andrew, glad I can help.

My custom setting for 2010 accepted targets from the one notch below pennies to the dollar notch. Everything below that was discriminated out. Four or five bars sensitivity. For me it quieted things down considerably.

This year I will stick with the same custom setting. But I am also going to try to use Jewelry mode more often.

Hope you have a successful hunting season !

Thanks Dave. I like the custom setting also....wow we hunt a lot alike. Im gonna try to ask permission to hunt at some churches....have never done that. I was pumped up when I landed an indian arrowhead last week.
Have a good one

I hunt identical to mcdave. custom mode is set the same for "cherry picking" or when i don't want to dig everything, just coins & silver. for all jewelry i set it on the JEWElRY mode. did some extensive testing and it's accurate. that means digging where it say pull tabs or foil could be gold rings! i find gold on segments #3 - #8 with my ace 250 so i dig it all when i'm in either mode. my "custom" mode gets the good coins-no clad pennies and the jewelry mode gets all the jewelry (and all the trash except iron).

Depends what your looking for and some spot testing on various coins and rings is in order...Pay attention to the two bars below nickle as thats where the thin gold womens rings come in some with nice stones...

If I am hunting parks, school yards or beach hunting I use the coin setting, I been useing the Ace 250 for 4 years. This work best for me. If I am relic hunting I use the relic setting. The best all around setting would be the jewelry setting you pick up more junk but you won't miss some of the better stuff.
