tank

New member
hit a lot that was near the center of old Pompano here and has
been cleared and the topsoil removed. judged by the shallows about
where the 4 houses had stood.best guesstamated front walks and drives.
worked out real good for 9.37 in modern clad as well as this stash
about where garage had stood.these coins had been in what appears to
have been a leather bag buried at 10 inches!!
no gold no jewels but a treasure none the less!
2-pesos 1966,1963, 1-cincuenta centavos 1969, 1-occupied french franc
1944, 1- german mark 1961, 1-silver canadian dime 1960, 1-steel wheat
1943, 1-wheat 1937, 1-canadian cent 1932, 1-wheat 1930, and 3 count
them 3 1909 wheats!!!! all plain with no mint or initials :-(
the coins had been packed in the bag with grease? and a dog tag from
1971, and the remains of a note carved on a piece of thin plywood but
it was mostly rotted with only a few letters visable. mabey a time
capsule? mabey a memorial? 88 tank!

What a special find! With the topsoil gone and still buried at 10" I doubt if the original owner ever expected it to be found. Looks like HE might have planned to return there some day, with it being packed in grease. (That is a novel idea)

He probably forgot about it as he grew up and is now most likely pushin' up daisys in the local graveyard.

Thanks for sharing this special event. <><

That 1932 Canadian penny is a common year and that 1960 dime is silver. You should email Garrett with pictures to:

It would make a great story about you and the "Yeller Feller"
