question u know the cover up they give u when u buy the package , with garrett symbols , and the clear plastic for
the screen is THAT WATERPROOF ??? i mean not going into the water , but from RAIN ??

Yep, it's a rain cover. But it also helps protect the buttons from dirt
when dry too. I keep mine on all the time just to protect the control
head from whatever.
Keeps the dirt out of my pinpointer button.. And yep, it does protect
the screen too, although it's probably the least critical. If it were raining,
keep water out of the buttons is probably more important.

It's most certainly showerproof.
In Scotland we can get all seasons within a couple of hours and have been caught many times in heavy showers.
Hey presto - no problems.

I don't detect in the rain but after it rains, when the ground is muddy, I always use my cover to keep the mud off my buttons. Make sure when you install it so that it doesn't pull your coil cord too tight to one side and that all of the buttons are free to move. I haven't needed mine since early May.

I use mine about 3 times a year. You all know it never rains in California:rofl:
