Ace 250 coil question

Hi All,

Are you guys using the stock coil to find all this stuff you're finding or one of the other coils for it?

Thanks,

John

In trashy areas I use a sniper coil and in other less trashy areas I use the standard coil. Also use sniper around metal poles and hard to reach areas. HH

I mainly use the sniper coil. Haven't taken it off since I first used it. It finds the goods among the trash. Ron

I use the stock coil about 75% of the time over the Sniper; but that's because I tend to hunt areas not very trash laden. Both are great.

I only use the large 9" x 12" and the 4.5" sniper coil for hunting. The sniper gets surprisingly great depth, and works great in trashy areas, in the woods in the thick bushes and along the metal playground equipment, where you can get much closer then a standard sized coil. It is also very sensitive to tiny metal objects.

The 9" x 12" coil works great in sports fields, as it covers a greater area per sweep and will complete the gridding of a field much faster. If there are deeper coins or jewelry buried there, the large 9" x 12" inch coil will give you a little extra depth measured in inches, to get those targets. The large coil, even though it is large, is still very sensitive to tiny objects and will pick them up quite deep.

If you use the inner forward toe to pinpoint, I suggest you put a permanent mark on the center of both outer and inner front toe as shown below. It makes pinpointing much quicker and more accurate. I pasted on the line and smiley on the coil, then put on several layers of nail polish to keep it in place.

Well after seeing so many using the large coil and the sniper, there must be a lot of stock coils gathering dust. It's too bad you can't buy the detector with only the coils you want and not have to buy the smaller one.

Any ideas how to beat the system?

Thanks,

John
And....my stock coil is collecting dust. I just don't use it.....
Ya know, I hear this more and more about the stock coil collecting dust. Might just have to seek out a new 12" Coil.

HEY SANTA, Wait a minute; one more thing
:bouncy:

The trouble is that one small coil comes with the 250 so the seller really can't do anything with more small coils with no detector.

I sent a suggestion to Garrett to make a "Pro II" package with the larger and sniper coils only with the 250. If Garrett heard the same thing from some others, it might become reality.

Thanks,

John

Dunno. I have all three, but I still use the stock coil
at times. In fact, thats what's on it right now as I look
over at it.
The stock coil is pretty decent, and a good compromise
between depth, and size. As an example, when I was up in
the country looking for lot markers, I was using the big
coil at first. But... It was too big to get between all
the tight brush, and I put the stock coil on. Much easier to
maneuver through the brush, and was still plenty good
enough to find the pins I was looking for. So anyway,
I just choose to whatever I'm hunting. All three of them
get use here, just depending on what I'm doing. I use the
sniper a lot, cuz it's a fast coin plunker in busy areas.
I use the big coil more for open areas that aren't too
busy as far as trash, or I want the maximum depth I can get
for some reason. You can find plenty of goodies with just
the stock coil.

That is a great idea you have and I'm glad you suggested that to Garrett. But I would still ask a dealer, as he may be able to make a deal with the factory.......
