Ace 250 coil cover

I was told that using a coil cover can extend the life of the coil on my Ace 250 metal detector. I was wondering if by using such a cover would reduce the sensitivity of my detector? Not sure what to do.

I bought one and can tell no difference other than the peace of knowing i have better protection as mine had started chipping.

I use the 550 and use a coil cover...have had no problems.I take it off after a hunt and make sure the coil is clean.I do a lot of night hunts and it takes the worry of not seeing a rock and damaging the coil. Coils are expensive.....coil cover is cheap.

I have covers on all my 250 coils. the only problem that I ran into was when hunting sandy areas. I would get a lot of sand inside the cover. When that happened, it was very difficult to remove to clean. It's hard enough to get off anyway. As far as sensitivity goes, the cover has no affect at all.

I certainly appreciate all your positive feedbacks on the coil cover. Although I have only been using my detector for a couple of months, I did notice the coil getting slightly scratched and I'm buying a coil cover tomorrow morning and will follow your advice of keeping it free of dirt and moisture. Thanks much.

the way i stop sand from getting in my coil covers is to run a bead of black or clear silicone on the coil cover & sand is no more .
been doing this for 20 years , & if you need to replace the cover it peals off.
covers are cheeper than replaceing a coil & no they dont effect the preformance.

With a coil cover you are not afraid to scrub the ground, therefore more depth. I have found over 1000 coins this year.
