Ace 250 and water question

Hello Garrett folks! I'm relatively new to this website. Been trying to narrow down a gift for my husband. Now I think I want a metal detector too!

OK here are the questions. Can the Ace 250 coil go in lake water (ankle depth wading), and will the housing be OK if we get caught in the rain?

thank you!

Everything but the control box can get wet. If you get caught in a light sprinkle I wouldn't worry about the control box. However, don't get caught in a downpour unless you have a rain cover for the control box.

250 is waterproof up to the control box. Don't get the box wet. You can get a rain cover from Garrett or put a clear plastic bag over the control box.. The 250 will make a great gift and result in many hours of fun.
