i took my Ace to a park this week and didnt too bad,but the other park was horrible.I found a quarter and a few pennys. It was falsing like crazy even turning the sensitivity didnt help.I have been there before with other detectors and didnt have this much trouble. Any tips?

I am sure you have anchored you coil cable to the shaft so let's see what help you can give us.
What mode were you in? The one time I had falsing issues, I went to all metal mode and dug up every piece of metal in a area I had recieved a false signal just moments before. Once ALL the metal was removed I no longer got any false signals.
Were you getting a tone as you swung you coil one way and then nothing on the return swing?? Was the ground flat or broken up and uneven??

Well we can rule out the unit is no working properly as if it worked in one area OK should be good to go.

Ace 250 is lots of bang for the buck but still is basically an entry level unit and my guess you encountered an area with bad ground or EMI.

Many more expensive units out there with manual ground balance and ability to change frequencies and facets to change settings that probably could compensate for your problems.

Ace 250 will work well in most areas but doesn't have the abilities of some more expensive models should sum it up but still a good buy for the bucks and more than one expensive gold ring or
old coin has more than paid for it in one dig...

You will have to give more info. I've known posters who turned the sensitivity down from max to 5-6 bars and thought that was turning down the sensitivity. I operate at 3 bars in my areas most of the time with 4 bars being the max. When I get into some places with lots of funky iron trash, I go to 2 bars and end up cherry picking the area very well. Another trick is to slow down the sweep speed. The beauty of the Ace is that it's so flexible in it's settings. But just in case, check the battery springs and make sure the coil cable is not so tight that it pulls on the connector to the detector housing when you sweep. That turned out to be my problem.

I'm wondering if you were getting some kind of electrical interference, but that shouldn't have affected the entire park.

It took me some time to discover why I had e.f.i falsing issues in a park I like to hunt. I noticed that when I hunted a certain stretch my machine acted up. After looking around I could see that a big transformer was acting like a hub in a wheel and underground wiring was coming off the transformer like spokes on a wheel. One spoke to the light pole...one spoke to the bathrooms..another to a different light pole. The areas in between the spokes were great for hunting though.

That reminds me. Under terrible EMI situations, 2 bars sensitivity stops all inteference. I would like for others to try this to verify. It's worked in every bad location I've tried.
