Ace 250 and Ace 350

Hello,

After reading many posts about the Ace 250 and Ace 350, I have come to a point where I just cant decide which it get. Even though the Ace 350 is basically known as a "souped up 250", I have still heard that unlike the 250 it is aimed more at relic hunters. What I wish to know is if because of the better relic hunting, will finding coins will be a little harder, or will it be the same, but just with better relic hunting. Sorry if this is hard to read, I am both a beginner to metal detecting and the forum.

Thanks for reading,
Chase

No sir. The DD coil will just give you better ground penetration when you hit mineralized soil.
The difference between the Ace 250's 6.5 khz and the Ace 350's 8.2 khz isn't going to make
that much difference in my opinion. The 8x10DD will give you more ground coverage for sure and
remember you can still use the Ace 250 coils even though they will only operate at the specified
6.5 khz. Some people are buying the 8x10DD coil and using it on the Ace 250 with no problem and thinking
they will get the 8.2 advantage but they are mistaken; the Ace 250 will continue to operate at 6.5 but still
the 8x10DD will make pin pointing much easier.

I love my Ace 250 and use the 9x10 for greater coverage but I admit the 8x10DD would be great to have.

Personally, I'd get the Ace 250 if I were just starting out and add coils as needed. You can always get the
8x10DD at a later time. I just don't see the point in my getting the 350 since there is fundamentally little
difference between them.

No sir, finding coins will not be any harder. The hard part is finding new places to metal detect that has not been
detected by anyone else.

Finding coins with the 350 is somewhat easier due to the better perfrormance of the DD coil. Pinpointing is much easier and faster.

Here was my own test, not quite the difference that was suggested.

I would have to agree with that since I have used DD coils in the past. If pin=pointing is the issue and not money then by all means get the 350.

I would strongly urge someone to find a dealer with both in stock, take each outside, and decide for yourself. If you don't, it's very likely you'll be disappointed. After owning both (250 & 350), if I were to buy another Ace, it'd be the 250 hands-down.
