Ace 250/150 Modification.

I thought I would post this arm cuff extension I've been working on to my Garrett buddies. It helps with fatigue and reduces the coil heavy feel. Also shifts the balance point 3 inches closer to your grip. Being longer it reduces the torque on your arm. Now the cuff fits on the big area of your forearm for a better fit. I call it the Garrett Gizmo. What do you think?

If that machine feels heavy to you, you must be a "girly boy"! The whole machine hardly weights anything!
I'd put some cloth tape or something around that bolt (or use a round headed bolt so you don't rub your arm raw over time).
Still, kinda cool.

Your assuming the bolt head rubs. It doesn't even come close to your arm. I never said the machine was heavy. Where did you read that? I said it was not balanced. If it's a perfect fit for you then that's fine. Enough with your insults. Especially with just 22 posts!

Great idea Kenny, that would be great on my GTI 2500

I guess you'll just have to buy an Ace! Hey, if it would fit I would send you one.... Good hunting to you!

I like your idea, so not having a lathe, metal or wood, I bought a 3 foot length of 3/4" hardwood dowel at Home Depot then power and hand sanded it down to fit , then drilled and bolted. Mine is crude compared to your workmanship, but I think its functional.

I will be testing it at the beach in about 3 hours. It feels better and I have more control over sweeping the coil, while keeping it at a constant height, now if it just lessens the fatigue and I can cover more ground and dig more targets....

I also have a GTI 2500 and while it is well made, with lots of bells and whistles, I feel it is way too heavy and lacks balance. It is hard to use for hours at a time, especially in the summer heat. To me the 2500 feels like a pair of shoes that do not fit well. To the next person it may be just fine.

I plan on selling the 2500 soon and keep just the ACE for now. Whatever I buy in the future, comfort will be one of the things I look at. Is it reasonably comfortable, if not can it be made so?

That will work too. That gets the cuff back but won't add weight to the rear. But you can't beat the price either! Good job!
