ACE 150

How does the 150 compare to the 250, I have a chance to get one a a great price and thought it might be good for my wife......
aany input would be great

The ace 150 is a good machine, but it only has 3 modes for huntin(no custom or relic).I am pretty sure that the 150 doesnt detect as deep. I got a 250 because for the amount that it cost more, it was worth it for the features. But, if u could get a 150 for a really good deal it may not be a bad idea. It just all depends on how much u really want to spend. The 250 is just a great machine for the money.

The ACE 150 also does not have a pinpoint mode button. Not that it's a real big deal but it sure makes it easier to pinpoint compared to alternative methods of swinging the coil.

Unless you are really getting some great deal on the 150, the 250 offers a lot more for only a little additional cost.

I think the lack of a pinpoint feature on the 150 might make it difficult for your wife to learn.

The ace 250 has a custom mode which you can set the way you want. Which you can also due in other modes by notch elimination,But it stays the way you set it even after you turn it off all other modes are suppose to go back to factory setting after turned off.I believe the ace 250 has a better resale value if not happy.Plus more modes to go through. Also went to Garrett site and you can compare them side by side.Ace 250 Pinpointing, Coin Depth Measurement Discrimination: GTA Accept / Reject Notch These are not on 150 according to them.Does the 150 have a pinpoint mode you need it.The ace 250 sells for 199.00 dollars around here.Hope this helps

If your wife is new to the hobby I would go for the 250. The 150 has no pinpoint and this is the hardest procedure for a newbie to learn and they can get frustrated real fast. Otherwise the 150 is a fair machine and many have good luck with it.

i agree about the ACE 250...unless you are getting the 150 for about 80.00 in a good deal, the 250 is the way to go...

i was new back in february and thats what we got...i was hooked on TH'g in a week....it was a great machine to learn having never done it before...

just when i think i am missing out now and would like to 'upgrade' i read more wonderful things about the 250 and figure, why spend the money on another MD yet...

pinpointing and visual screen are wonderful to have...and notch discrimination too....

it cant do areas with hot rocks tho...the only downside i have found.

Yeah the 250 performs like machines costing three times as much so why waste the money. I have several big buck machines and they are gathering dust in the closet.
