Accurate assessment??

I've noticed that there are about 4 times as many Garrett posts compared to Fisher posts. Would it be fair to say that 4X as many Garretts are sold than Fishers and also that they find 4 times more stuff??

Or it could be that many buyers of the newest Fisher machines ("F" series), are finding out that they really aren't that good... BCD and myself found this out after buying F2's (to our disappointed chagrin).

However, any posts offering-up reviews that are less than positive are quickly deleted 'over-there'. The F2 is my only Fisher machine right now, so I don't post there because they don't like what I have to say and will "delete" before the ink is dry!

The comparatively priced 250, however, has been getting positive reviews/posts for years, as well as field tests in "W&E Treasures" and "Lost Treasure" magazines. I have yet to see published field tests on the F2-F4's yet.

I don't doubt that most (older) Fishers are decent machines, I just haven't been impressed with the BH/Titan clones that they are producing now. The F2 reminds me of the Discovery 3300 that I bought and quickly sold a couple of years back... ambiguous TID, inaccurate target depth readout, and inferior depth when compared to my 250. There were other problems as well...

Borderline ranting now, sorry!

I think the F2 is just a rehash of the 3300 with the Fisher label attached. I've read the specs on both machines and there ain't much difference. I see BCD is still hanging around over there. I went over there and stirred the pot a bit but it was soon deleted. I was just playing with their minds. :)

Maybe they'll have 'em on sale in a coupla' months.

I checked and they aren't in any stores around here, not that I'm really that interested in getting a T2 right now. I've still got to try and unload that F2...

Thanx for the link!

They are all the same price no matter what store you buy it from. I saw T2's for sell at Cabela. Same price as Kellyco's and RS.

Yeah, I'm a glutton for punishment!! The F2 will never be a contender to the 250 no matter how much the Fisher guys hype it. The F2 will find stuff, but buying an F2 is kinda like buying a Kia Spectra. They will get you around but you just don't get that feeling of comfort and security you get with a Lexus.

hello, the ace is great! i just wish it would pinpoint a little better. i need the sniper coil i think. i think iam not well liked at the fisher forum but i didn't mean to make anyone mad or that mad. because i think the fisher detectors are good machines. Ive used the 1280 back in the early 90"s my brother uses the cz5 and he thinks it the best detector in the world and with the finds he's made i can see why.

The 250 pinpoints just fine. You just have to learn the trick. Fisher made great detectors but they don't make them anymore. Bounty Hunter ( First Texas ) bought them out and now you get a BH with a Fisher name tacked on it.

I read an article where someone broke into a Yugo that had one of them steering wheel clubs attached.
Cops arrived at the scene, found they stole the club and left the Yugo

I have the ACE 250, the Fisher F-75, and a number of Tesoro's. Used a White's for many years.
I like them all - - - :detecting:

I've used the F2 and the Ace 250 side by side and I like the Ace much better. From burying coins in the yard and testing them, the F2's ID numbers are way off and bounce around all over the place on anything at 4" or greater while the Ace correctly ID's a dime at 5" every time. The F2 ID numbers are fine for 3" or less. Neither machine would reliably pick up a dime I buried at 6".

I don't really know. I was looking at the Radio Shack website for some components, when I punched in metal detectors to see what the latest was. I was quite surprised to find the T2 there, as it was the first tribute from First Texas to show that they were seriously getting into the high end metal detecting market. You wouldn't expect to find a GTI 2500 or Infinium at that type of store.
