Personally, I never use them, or at least very seldom. the only time I might use a coil cover is on a smaller-than-stock coil because I might work in into a very tight spot. Still, that's not always a need in my consideration. Owner's Manuals suggest we search with the coil 1"-2" off the ground for best performance, so why a coil cover? Scrubbing a detector coil isn't good these days for most uses with modern detectors. Coil covers add weight and, while it seems like very little, out on the end of the rod you can feel the difference so not using them provides better balance and feel.rjf1231 said:
