That would partially depend on what coil/brand you're looking for. As far as the pinpointer, wherever you go, if you're getting a hand held go for the Garrett ProPointer. Don't get anything less...JMHO
 
I should have told you, I have an mxt and a coinpro, both whites. Would like to buy a coil cover for the coinpro and a different coil for the mxt. I read that the DD's are supposed to good with the MXT. Any help??
 
Pinpointer: DX1 all the way. If you want a hand held go with the GarretProPointer.

Coil: I love my 5.3" coil when I'm not using my stock 9.5" coil.

Personally, I never use them, or at least very seldom. the only time I might use a coil cover is on a smaller-than-stock coil because I might work in into a very tight spot. Still, that's not always a need in my consideration. Owner's Manuals suggest we search with the coil 1"-2" off the ground for best performance, so why a coil cover? Scrubbing a detector coil isn't good these days for most uses with modern detectors. Coil covers add weight and, while it seems like very little, out on the end of the rod you can feel the difference so not using them provides better balance and feel.
