ACCEPTIG SIGNAL

went out metaldetecting today. might be the last day for it in upstate n.y.. using dfx DD1400 coil.detected my front yard which i detect almost every day.havnt found much in a while .decided to dig some targets that give a good signal 1 way but not the other. dug a 1957 canadian penny and a matchbox doing this. i never dug these targets before because i was told that they would be iron.i can see the coin doing this maybe it was on edge.so maybe anyone reading this should dig up the targets that signal good just one way.any thoughts on this.

The subject of digging questionable VDI's with the DFX has been discussed just recently on the White's DFX Classroom forum. Read some of the posts from the last several days. It is kind of spread over several posts. The bottom line is that the VDI is not that accurate at deeper targets or when targets are near iron. My policy is "if in doubt, dig it".

I think we all know we should actually dig ALL signals. But we don't always because we are a little lazy that day OR we think we already know what the target is based on having dug up a lot of that number before and found trash. I wonder how many gold rings I have left in the ground just "knowing" that that VDI was a pull tab.
