I've had my X-70 for about 6 months and just today I decided to try the accept/reject button. Am I right that the A/R button won't work in AM because you are accepting everything?? I went to patterns 1 and 2 and it pretty much rejected the big old rusty spike I was using. In pattern 3 there seemed to be somewhat less of a signal when I hit the A/R button. I was under the impression that it would null out completely. Did I do something wrong? I was using the 10.5, 7.5 MFDD.
You are correct in that the All Metal mode can not be modified. It is factory set to zero discrimination. The three Pattern modes can be set for any combination of accepted or rejected notches. If you were still getting a signal when you hit the A/R button, I'd almost bet that the big old rusty spike you were trying to reject was "bouncing" between or overlapping in two or more notches. When you hit the A/R button, you only rejected one of those notches. Take a look at the TID and see if that isn't the case. JMHO HH Randy
