...my brother, Greg, had asked for prayers for Brian in his Sunday school class. After giving a description of his problems several class members insisted they would like to do something for Brian. After approaching Greg several times he suggested that maybe they could build a wheelchair ramp to make access to the house easier. They even mentioned applying for the Extreme Home Makeover and having a professional do the filming. When they came by to look at the house I suggested a small ramp leading up to our side door. Knowing they were considering applying for the home makeover I mentioned that a deck with a ramp from the driveway was in our long range plans. Immediately they dropped plans for the small ramp and started measuring for a deck. The deck would connect to the back of the house and french doors would need to be installed. I only mentioned it because of the film but they insisted on building the deck. In addition...they are building a ramp from the deck to the pool to make it easier to get Brian in and out of the pool. One of the class members is a building contractor, one a manager for an 84 Lumber Store and several others are builders so this will be a professionally built deck!! When I got home today there was a large pile of lumber on the driveway!! They will begin Saturday to set the support posts and Sunday after church about a dozen men will come over to work til dark. It will take close to two weeks to complete. I'll post pics later.
Now we won't need to apply for the home makeover because our only pressing need was a deck and ramp and there are many others that deserve their help more than us. Even though I can look out the window and see the pile of lumber it's still hard for me to believe.
God has certainly blessed us with this gift and we are most appreciative of His goodness.
I know you are all praying and I just can't thank you enough!!
God bless,
