new machine. Decided on the M6. Will go get it this coming Tuesday. So, this may be my last chance to learn more. I have been told by several, not just one, persons you are making a mistake get the MXT. So tell me why the MXT is so much better. I know its a nugget hunter but I will never go nugget hunting. All I will use the machine for is... coin shooting, jewelry hunting and maybe a bit of relic hunting. I have read... that he M6 is just as good and deep as the MXT for these purposes.
So if any of you have used the MXT and M6 for enough time to give an honest opinion and can tell me why the MXT is better. I need to know the why part, lol.
I will be getting the shooter coil and the 6X10 coil also. I thought about the excellerator coils but dunno.
So tell me why.
I really appreciate your help on this,
John
PS
One thing that did help me decide on the M6, is its ease of use. Later down the road I am sure I will buy another detector and keep this one. It will be easy to use if some buddy or family wants to give it a try.

John, if it is coins you are after, the M-6 is very good. It gets very good depth and is easy to use. I have had 2 DFX's and 1MXT. The M-6 will find a coin about as deep as these two and the setup makes the M-6 the easiest of all three. Try it and you will like it. After you get the hang of it, get a small coil and you will be "good to go" R.L.

:clapping:Congrats on the new machine Bowie..:bouncy: WELCOME: Back to the wonderful world of detecting

John; I have spent many, many hours with both the MXT and the M6. Like you, I am primarly a Coin and Jewlery guy. I also like to hunt the Salt Water Beach occasionally. Until the M6 came allong, the MXT was my Main Machine and I loved it. After two hours with the M6, the MXT was religated to Back up.I hunt mostly with zero Disc, listen to all the tones in the tone mode. I let the machine run in Auto track unless I am on the Salt Beach, then I G/B and then lock it. The 5.3 coil is an awsome coil in trash with the 7 tones. I use the 4x6 for around Playground equipment and the 6x10 while on the Beach in wet sand. 950 does fine in the dry sand but I use the 6x10 rather than have to change before going in the wet sand. Get the M6 like you planed and don't look back.

Question Poorman, if you had to choose between the 4X6 and 5.3 coil which would you opt for. Im about to run my spending limit for the time being. I have read good on both coils and chose the 4X6 but I could have really flipped a coin to decide, lol. I chose the 6X10 because I have read so much good about that one, comparing it to the stock coil, except the pinpointing and I read where someone said the easiest way to learn to PP is to tape a coin or two to the underside of a piece of cardboard and practice with it in that fashion. But as to the two smaller coils it was a toss up.
Ive about reached my limit money wise as I had to buy headphones also, Killer Bee Wasp. If I didnt have to order from Kelleyco, I may would just go on and order the 5 inch excellerator.
Thanks
John

John; I prefure the 5.3 over the 4x6 coil for it's better depth. I find by turning down my sens a tad. I can still swing pretty close to the Iron Work. I do love the little 4x6 when snooping around old foundations. I found a really nice 1913 Barber Dime when I poked my 4x6 into a hole a rock had rolled out of on an old foundation. Yes, don't worry, I checked the hole for others. None there. I have all the coils on lower rods and I always take them all with me so I have never had to wish I had one. Sometimes I just get lazy and don't switch when I probibly should. Like most, my all time favorite is the 6x10 DD. I pinpoint off the toe. Works good for me. I have a Super 12 but have yet to use it. poorman

Thanks poorman, I may just get that 5.3.
Sounds silly for a grown man but I am anxious to get my new machine.
Everywhere I go, I look for signs of older houses, schools etc. I hunted some years back with my dad but he was the one with peaked enthusiasm for detecting, wish I would have had it then but I didnt.
I know at first I will hit a few school yards and playgrounds to get familiar with the M6. Then Ill venture out into some sites I have in the back of my mind.
