? about relic detectors

I have recently gotten bitten by the relic bug, and am looking for a top notch detector to hunt with. I have recently updated my underwater detector to an Excal2, so will be selling a Tigershark and also probably my GTP 1350. The Excal2 impresses me, so I was wondering what you relic guys think about the Explorer SE Pro, VS MXT, GMT, and any other metered high end machines you can think of. I will be hitting an old site that has a home on it used as a Civil War hospital, and I want a machine that if used properly won't miss the deep stuff. Thank you for your help and HH! Joe

Well, I'm a Nautilus user and I don't think it can be beat for depth but my next relic machine will probably be a T2 because it is awesome in trashy sites.
Mike

Who makes the T2, I'll have to give it a look.

The T2 is a Teknetics-made unit, Joe.

I'm right there with Mike in that I use a Nautilus as my frontline machine. But in a house site with a ton of iron, I'll break out my Fisher F75, which is very similar to the T2.

Do a search for Teknetics or Fisher F75. Both are super in iron, but the T2 may be less expensive. I think the 75 went up in price this year.

Again, I agree with Mike concerning the depth of the Nautilus. Just has incredible depth.

Hope this helps.

Look hard at the Minelab Sovereign GT. One of the best made for X-treme iron sites. Depth is exceptional, even with the 8" coil. If you take the time to read posts about them, you'll gain a lot of insight while making your decision. We will have a new Minelab coming this week so hold on if you want another detector that is cutting edge technology.

Joe, I would take a hard look at Fisher's F 70. Same frequency as the F 75, thus 3 coils available and runs about

Joe, I suggest a hard look at Fisher's F 70. Very similar to the F 75, thus 3 coils are available and runs about $350.00 less then the 75. I have the F 75 and it goes deep and is terrific in trash. HH jim tn

Thank you all, no votes for the Explorer SE Pro huh, maybe I was looking in the wrong direction...

I should probably be looking harder at this one, but isn't it pretty much the same as an Excalibur just not water proof? If so, I aready have the Excal2, I was looking for more features. I was also looking at the Quattro, but by the time I put the new 11" coil on it I am $100 away from the Explorer SE Pro... See why all the questions.... Thank you and HH Joe

Thank you, I will start researching this one, and the F75. I am one of those people that even downloads the manual and READS it before getting something like this, I don't want to have to replace it in a couple of years.

OK, I am hearing F75 repeatedly, so I will DEFINITELY be checking it out. Thank you and HH Joe

the Explorer II since 10-8-03 and the SE since march and I think they are excellent relic machines. They have superior depth, target ID in ferrous and conductive, and can be set up in many different ways to hunt for or reject whatever you want too. Now they are releasing a new Minelab called e-trac which I'll be selling off two detectors and accessories to be able to afford to purchase it. I had a Fisher F-75 and now have a Nautilus IIBa but they just don't seem to compare with the Explorer's in my opinion.

Scott, what's the story with the e-trac? I just got an Xterra 70 and hadn't heard about this new release coming up.
