can be a boon to a detectorist. I'd bet there's a lot of lifetime residents that wouldn't know there were RR tracks running thru these area's at one time. It appears from the pics that parts of the old line/path are on private property now. Are there places along that line where an old boarding station sat or where workers waited to hop on board ? Those could be fun area's to detect.
