aag800 ... How are things going with your new FORS CoRe?

I hope you've been able to get out to use the CoRe and are learning how well it performs. The only real posts you had pertained to the display lighting for the side adjustment functions and handgrip display. I hope the replies answered your questions. The control mode and settings selection display only lights up when you press the buttons to change modes or select a function to make adjustments. No need for it to light up when a target is encountered because you wouldn't be looking at the side of the control box.

The handgrip display will light up when a target is encountered, to view and/or adjust the Ground Balance setting, and to reference the signal intensity/depth when in the Pinpoint function,

The two displays and lighting functions are pretty 'simple' and practical, and I like 'simple.'

Anyway, it is a little after 2 AM here and I was just checking the Forums after getting all my gear ready to load up for a ghost town trip today. Had to double-check battery condition as we might be putting in several hours of hunting, and my Racer 2, FORS Gold+ and FORS CoRe are all good-to-go. When I double check battery strength I also can't resist turning the detectors on and enjoying the pleasant audio performance they offer, and I thought about your new-to-you post and wondered how you are doing with the FORS CoRe? Remember, if you have any questions about settings or performance, don't hesitate to put up a post for assistance, or you're welcome to shoot me an e-mail, if you think I might be of help.

Enjoy the FORS CoRe as it is, with no doubt in my mind, one of the best multi-purpose detectors on the market today.

Unfortunately Monte, I still have frost to deal with here in north jersey . So no good digs yet. Just goofing around in my test garden which has been real promising. The Core really hits everything clean and hard. It really just seems to be the most straight up, simple, yet advanced machine I have had. If that makes sense? I am coming off of a F75 upgraded that honestly gave me a headache between all of the noise and all of the wondering what to dig. I am really looking forward to the thaw. I have three permissions lined up at 150+ year old farms that should produce some fine relics.
As for the light up questions, I did get my answers. I was just trying to put the joystick numbers together with the scale on the main screen just to get a feel for what range the numbers were in. I figured in real world hunting I would not be looking at the box too much anyway. The sounds are really the intriguing quality of the Core and the numbers will all click together.
One question I do have is about the depth readings. Are they basically to be ignored? I taught myself the metric to inch conversion, but they are not really even close to actual depth. The fisher and my minelab were always pretty impressive with the depth estimate.
Thanks for looking out for me Monte. I'm sure I will have some good reports to come with the new Core. Hope the ghost town trip was a rip!

I use the depth readings like a deep shallow reading more than an accurate gauge. lol Some targets are right where it says they are but it seems like the scale just goes away if it is anything of a different size than what they used to calibrate it.
