Ace 250 got me some gold yesterday. 10.85 grams of it. 18 "carrots" in a field. Signal was dead on 5 cents. Necklace and lion charm under tall grass and 3 inches of roots and dirt. I cut a circle around the target, pulled the plug out, but it was still stuck by what seemed a stubborn root. That root was the chain still stuck longways into the ground. I slowly cleared the ground following the chain with my fingers until the whole thing got free. Funny thing is, I was with a new detectorist and we were heading back to our vehicles, cutting through an open field on a trail. He stopped on a 5 cent signal and started digging. I went on and got my own 5 cent signal just 3 yards ahead. He got alluminum foil, I got gold!
The 5 cent signal shows way off the gold range. Is the gold range on the detectors set at 10 kt gold?
I'll post a pic later on this weekend. The site was about 10 km from my usual digging grounds, but still a valid former military area. I also found a couple of old coins, 5 cents 1930 Italian Kingdom, and another 1 Kreuzer 1881 Austria.
