AA cells in Lantern batt ??????

So I goes out like the man said and buys a 6v Everyready lantern battery with a smile on my face, eagerly awaiting to use all those AA batterys on my Lobo. Boy was I surprised when I opened it up and instead found 4 each batteries about as thick as "D's" and much longer. Donno what happened but I'm gonna stick with Costco's Coppertop Multi-packs and forget about "battery grab bags." Any one else have this happen?

The Prius Hybred has 3300 aa cells in it
