I did a little dirt fishing yesterday and landed a 1898 Indian Head penny and 1942 Merc and two wheat pennies a 1946 and 1948D. This is the 1st Indian head penny that I've found in several years. This is my second silver of the year.. the first was a 1935 Merc.. that is badly worn. I found it last week about 500 yards from where I hunted today, that day I also found a dropped 58 cal minnie and what I believe could be a fired minnie. Where I hunted is on the path of Nathan Bedford Forrest's raid.
I don't get to hunt much due to hip pain.. I carried my Sampson shovel today.. it sure makes it easier getting up after diggin'

Thanks guys.. If my hip doesn't get any better.. I'll have to give up the hobby or have surgery @ 61 it's hard enough getting up and down without hip pain.
I have two ghost towns I want to find and search.. I hope that I get to do that..

Very nice finds, I can relate to the hip pain, but believe me it can get worse, had a stroke about a year ago, try hunting with a walker.

Congrats on some very nice finds.

my Hip is doing good today.. I'm off from work Fri-Sun & hope to go some dirt fishing Fri as heavy rains are expected Sat... One strange thing I also found was a piece of white quartzit must have been hauled it with some other gravel by the county. I believe I'll crush it and pan it out.. Be nice to find a few specks of oro... aka gold
