A Walk With Liberty......

Gulf Hunter

Active member
Took a spin down the lane today with Gulf Huntress, air temp was hovering around 50 degrees so she decided to hunt the dry sand and I donned the wetsuit and headed for the Gulf where I'm most at home. It was a slow day and it was kinda sanded in but came upon a spot in the surf that I had heard about previously from willia in tex (see previous posts of his) at an undisclosed Galveston beach that we both hunt at. The coins are walking liberty silver eagles and he had found some one day that he had been there.
I figured that he had cleaned them all out, but he left me 7. Other finds include a .925 square earring and .67 cents in clad and 2 pairs of sunglasses,1 of which I wore the rest of the day. Just took a shot of the silver coins though as the rest was unimpressive by comparison.

Max, for some reason our salinity does not tarnish silver quite as aggressively as in ya'll's area. The coins came out of the water as you see them. They may have been lost this year. When I found the 1st one I just got a signal and then dove down and fanned out the hole to keep from damaging the rest. Had a feeling there would be more after conversing with willia in tex when he scored a similar load.

In the surf Joe. Guess someone brought their (or their daddy's) coin collection to the beach and lost it or a thief got puckered and chunked them in.

therick, either some kid raided his daddy's coin collection or a thief was getting rid of evidence best I can figure. They were within a 6 foot square area. I believe there are more because the tide changed right about the time I was on them and it started to sand in pretty bad.

up tight i plastic cover, he thought he had found a battery

i think he found like 19 or 20 in the wraper
