A walk in the surf lane produces a lot of "stuff" and gold :)

Well, truth be known, I found this first one at a tot lot before I hit the beach. They call stuff like this "nitro" (cause when you see it, you think you're going to have the big one :) ) Gold plate was wearing off most of it and of course those aren't diamonds...

Found some other interesting looking junk... These were all very tiny. I have to say, the ExpII is unbelievably sensitive to small objects. That "diamond" stud earring isn't made up of much metal.

These are both junk too... I must have broken the "turquoise" necklace with the scoop. The "ruby" thing sure looked good with the sun shining on it :)

Then I came upon a lousy sounding shallow target that I almost passed up. Turned out to be this 18K bracelet that was completely open around 3" down.

The next gold was this little 14K baby shoe pendent...

The last thing I hit was this bracelet. I'll have to get it tested as I can't find any marks on it. Looks good, just not sure.

So, not a bad stroll on the beach. Here's a last shot of the gold finds...

You sure had a productive day Joe. 18 K is fairly unusual it seems. If you ever want to test a stone to see if it's turquoise or plastic/ junk just heat a pin and stick it in. If it goes in it's not stone - obviously. You can also rap it on your front teeth and tell the difference in stone or not. At least I can - dont rap too hard :) Glad you are having a lot of luck lately, Steve in so az

Yeah, 18K is fairly uncommon.... probably why this was my first :)

Regarding the bracelet, some of the "turquoise" has rubbed off on a couple of the "stones" and the rest are all an even blue color. That's an interesting test though; I'll keep that in mind. The bracelet itself appeared to be silver but I don't see any marks. How do you test for silver? Do they make jewelry like that out of pewter?

Spoke to Kathy yesterday (I see her every once in a while) Last week, she found a tennis bracelet that turned out to be the real deal. She said she wasn't sure, but she thinks it's somewhere between 1 and 2 carets worth of diamonds. Nice find :)

Here's an easy & inexpensive way. But a bottle of Silver Black at a jewelers or gemstone supply place - Lapidary house. Apply a small drop and let dry, then try to rub & wash it off. If it stays it's silver. Bottle is around 5-6 bucks and lasts forever.
I would love to find one of those tennis bracelets ! Steve
