A walk in the park in Jan.

Well been a mild winter here in N.E. Pa. and around 50 today so armed with my old Tesoro Toltec 11 with notch set so low foil to high nickle is low and dimes up is high ventured out in Jan for the first time in years...Pretty slim pickings in the local park but managed some clad including a Sac. dollar. Must have went over a 100 plus targets in the ring range but only dug 12 and got fooled by a large piece of foil, small key, lead sinker couple of old misshapen tabs and misc.heavier junk but right before I left dug that one that just sounded different and pulled a shallow 14 kt gold Claddagh irish ring. Was I lucky...sure was but thank goodness for audio variances in older Tesoro units. For those that think perhaps I missed another in the other 100 plus that I didn't dig...1 out of 12 is easy on the back and landscape and if I dug the other 100 might not have had time to go over this one and of course the trained ear took time as have used every Tesoro notch unit ever made. Sure a nice way to start the year and perhaps the next one will have a nice stone.

Excuse the senior moment Toltec series were good units but was using the Golden Sabre 11 and the Toltec 11 was a poor remake of the infamous Toltec 100 which was an excellent ID unit..

Its not every day a person can get out for a hunt this time of year in our part of the country hey Dan. Glad you got a hunt in, our ground is froze up here but no snow to speak of and if it warmed up for a day or two a person could hit a tot lot at least. I happen to like the Toltec II and found the meter to be quite accurate, never have had or used a Toltec 100. Steve.

Dan,
Beautiful on the east coast today. Too bad I was at work from dark to dark and did not get out.
Thanks for sharing the hunt and congrats on the gold!

When I got home tonight my wife hands me a little necklace and say's "for $3 I think I got a good deal". Thrift store, 14K pendent with 14 K chain; 2.2 grams total. Both test 14K. Pendant has three small stones that have a colorful sparkle that just feels real looking at them. I need to get a diamond tester. Even if the stones are not real, she has a good deal. She is now ahead of me this year.
Cheers,
tvr

Good job Dan, hey I skip alottt of targets that I don't feel like digging that are iffy around the foil - gold range because I have better things to do then dig up 100 things that are trash in hope for finding a little gold....yayy for anyone who digs up my passovers, I'll keep my good knees and back over money any day of the week.
