Headed out early Saturday morning to hunt with some good friends. We went to an old park that was fairly small (compared to what we usually hunt). Wayne found a Mercury dime right off the bat, a 1916 with no mint mark. Joe found a couple of Indians. I got a jumpy signal with a good tone about 5" down. Opened up the plug and didn't get a hit with my pinpointer. After opening it up a little more, there was a signal off the the side and a little deeper. Spent a minute or so digging it out and I pick it up and see the "One Dime" on the back. Cool, I think, a Barber dime!!! Wipe the front off, and there is Lady Liberty sitting down!!! A 1891S seated dime!! My first seated coin ever, and it is in great shape. "Liberty" is still very clear on the shield!
Left that park and went to a smaller park and didn't find much, but did see a penny sitting on the surface next to an old tree. It was very corroded, so I though it was a Zincoln. I pick it up and see "One Cent" on the back. I though no way, an Indian!!! I couldn't really see a date, but I think it is 1885. I can see an 8 and a 5.
Any ways, very glad to have the seated dime!!!
