Bigger is not necessarily better. If you dig wet sand and water, just remember you got to pull that sucker out after burying it to the hilt. NOT AN EAST TASK!
I have hyper extended my arm at the elbow and it took 7 months to get over it with out any doctors help.
I wish I could experiment with a few other designs of beach scoops....I don't like the way the handles get in the way of digging....if your scoop is say 6" wide but after digging first scoop full and another and then all of a sudden your hole is not wide enough cause handle hits the top of hole....so you have to long gate the hole to accomidate the handle....forget it...too much work for me. a better position of the handle may help...
The Minelab Explorer with a good coil on like the new SE pro coil will go to unbelievable depths.....I need a back hoe or a better designed scoop.
I think I would rather have a longer basket, oppossed to wider basket.....say 2' long basket before the handle hits the top of the hole. 2' is the max I would like to dig and I am not sure if it is possible but I am sure if we all put our heads together we will think of something....I have read maybe digging half scoops will work better....less fatiging but then again you got to beat the ever filling in of the hole at the same time.....it seems like a no win situation sometimes.....I usually miss at least 4 targets everytime I go out and who knows what they were cause I can't keep up with the sinking of the target and the caving in of the hole.....thats why it is not accurate in determining the actual depth of target when first detected but just a reference.
I would stay with a longer basket and smaller diameter in width...say 5" max.....unless pinpointing is a problem...then maybe wide but short in length of basket would be better.....your call......
Trust me it is alot of hard work if you have a great detector.....lots to learn and lots to invent still......
