A tip for New detectorists

Hi All, I have been detecting for a good while now, I bought a used ACE 250...I was not getting the performance from it I thought I should have been according to what I had read on the forums.
I started loking at it and I noticed that the COIL COVER was a little open in a spot(very small spot) so I removed the cover.
You would not belive the magnetic sand an particles I got from in there.
Now it is like having a whole new machine...reads well and pinpointing is easy now.
Just a Tip...clean under the coil cover every so often,no matter how good you seal it junk will get in there and mess with signals.

I had that problem about a month ago. I posted it, and got replies it has been posted before. Good post to put up now and then for newbies.

Yeah that's a regular problem with covers. Any debris or moisture that gets in there will screw up the performance of your detector. If you don't have them sealed tight they need to be cleaned often.
