It came a new at least to me ,A long 9 days in anxious waiting for a Classic II SL ... As I'm unwrapping it she looks good YESSS! whats that ! NO NO NO it can't be theres the foam hump but wheres the toggle switch lever that suppose to be sticking out from it.ARGHHH its broken !!! .I search the box and packing... nothing it didn't get broke in transit....OK frantic thinking here. .. Do I send it all way back cross country where it just came from the west coast to get repaired in Sweet Home or send it here to Centreville Electronics right here in VA.... Well after talking to both places its cheaper to send it to Sweet Home alot cheaper repair wise...Who would ever thought it was cheaper to send it back to the whites factory.... I'm going to be a wreck .....by time I get this detector back ...maybe if I"m lucky fall will roll around before I get to use it and it won't be so dang hot...The only good news out of this is I know Whites will take care of me, maybe this is my punishment from straying away from the fold (Whites)LOL ..but I'm back I have a Whites again.... but hey I 'm only human and my eyes a get to wondering and looking at a different detecting toy .....now what to do about the issue where this Classic II came from.... heads are going to ROLLL!:ranting: ... I'm just going to be :drool: ing with envy as I read all whites post finds.While I await my new to me detecting toy to come back. Ya all thanks for listening and bending a ear ,keep them finds a coming woodchuck

It is an easy DIY fix if you have a soldering iron. http://whiteselectronics.com/products/accessories/replacementparts.html

You know I had looked at it,and it had some kind of little tiny transistor or something on back of toggle switch and real small delicate wires.And I didn't want to mess with it, I figured let the experts work on it,and check it out for other issues while they had. And besides my eyes aren't what they use to be,I focus on something small and its a blur or I see two of em..:yikes:

That's a bummer but you still have your other detector... Ya, it's not a great white but take a few deep breaths and count to ten...Lol...and before you know it, you'll be swinging it. HH Jack from NH

As Larry said above. $7.95 for the switch and solder 3 wires. Just pull the rubber cover off, then using a screwdriver, pry out the aluminum piece that holds the switch in. Unscrew the switch nut to remove the old switch, unsolder the wires and then solder in the new switch. Assemble in reverse. Easy as pie. Well actually it's easier than making a pie but not as easy as eating one.

[size=large]woodchuck,
it's better to know your limitations than to gamble and scewup the whole thing. when you get it back you know it'll be fixed correctly and ready to roll.
