A T Pro, maiden voyage. :garrett:

Well, on land, that is. Finally decided to see what the A T Pro was all about. I am pretty much an old coin and relic hunter, but since retiring I find that my wife and I vacation at water spots, like up in Minnesota, 3 or 4 weeks every summer. So, thought the A T Pro might be the way to go.

Anyway, my first outing with it was this morning at one of our big old city parks. This place has been pounded for 30 + years, but on occasion still gives up a goodie. I started right off in Pro mode zero with iron audio on and 6 sen. After a few minutes, bumped the sen up to 8. Oh, and I had the 5x8 DD coil on. Also have the 11" DD, but am already loving the 5x8. At this spot I recovered most of the clad, Memorials, the 2 tokens and the sterling ring with a red stone. The ring was about 3" deep and was reading 81-82. Dug some trash just to get a feel for tones and vdi readings.

After a couple of hours of swinging I decided to leave and hit a small park that is located on the corner of a very busy intersection. This little spot had been hit hard by three of us back in the spring and had yielded each of us several silver coins and numerous wheat cents. I wasn't expecting much considering how hard we had hunted it and mainly wanted to see how the Pro handled emi. This spot has plenty of such when getting up near the streets along two sides. Fortunately, the A T Pro had no emi issues what so ever. And I was running the same settings as at the other old park.

My very first target up near one of the streets was a 1918 wheat cent from 6," using the Pro pin pointer as a measure gage. A few minutes later got the other wheat cent, a 1950. After recovering a couple of 4" deep Memorial cents up along the other street I hit the1940 Merc. It also was about 4," but partially masked by a small piece of iron.

Beyond the coil connection situation, which took me 15 minutes to hook up last night, ( I hope it gets easier) I believe I am going to really like this little rascal. HH jim tn

Not fair, you have to work and sweat and not find anything for a while, at least a week. You are going to really kill some stuff once you get that Pro in the water. Unbelievable how well you did your first day out, and in this heat with the ground all dry and whatnot..Awesome work!:please: Pretty strong little machine eh? Wait until you dig a foot for a nickel in the right sand situation, you will really be impressed, but I see you are already...Great post!.

Irish luck and all that stuff.. Not to mention a talented detectorist. who could use two sticks and find Silver .....Yep he's that good with a detector !!!

Ah, Man, Elton, that's a little strong, but thanks. Mud, we had had some pop up showers around yesterday and that area of town I was hunting had gotten some. Digging was good, but with temps in the mid 90's, those conditions with be gone quickly. Just so you know, your comments to me about the A T were a major factor in my getting one. I think I can thank you. Thanks guys. HH jim tn

Many, many people read your posts and in fact look forward to them. I know I do Sir !!............

Nice finds! I use the 5x8 a lot too, I dread every time I have to change coils. It's the one design flaw on an otherwise magnificent detector...

Welcome to the AT family Jim. Look forward to seeing your posts and finds with your new machine. I love seeing your Tek and fisher posts. Really look forward to these ones now.

You DREAD it!
Aw c'mon, it's not that bad! I do it almost daily!
No biggie! How many times have you done it?

Maybe a second lower shaft would be easier?
