A T Pro------A T Gold

This question probably has been asked a number of times, but save an old guy some back posts look up time. For those of you that have had both the Pro and Gold, in disc. mode is there any difference it depth between the two with like coils. Thanks in advance. HH jim tn

I think you will be splitting hairs.Even the allowable tolerances on production would weigh the balance either way. I still believe that the AT Pro is the better detector for coins and jewelry hunting. The AT Gold is more suited for gold (nugget) hunting and relic hunting.

But, let the conversations continue.

Have had two At Gold's and Two At Pro's now. Had the 8.5x11 for the Gold's. Long story short, in Discrim with same coil, pro is about 2-3" deeper (air test), the gold has to be in all metal to hit at the same distances. The pro is always hits a smidge further.
Also, did the same with NEL/CORS 12x13 coils with each, same results.

Having had both, I have no need for all metal mode and I water hunt a LOT, so the AT Pro is what I've kept for my needs. With a 12x13 NEL/CORS coil, it gets it done great around here! (land/water).

I've had three AT Pros and currently have the Gold.

I only had the 8x11 coil for the Pros though...for the AT Gold I have the 8x11 and stock 5x8. With that said, in Disc mode that AT Gold will air test a US dime to 10 inches with a repeatable fringe signal on the 8x11 and the same dime to 9 inches with the 5x8. I like the 5x8 coil a lot. If you go to the Garrett website you can pull up a chart where they compare the AT Pro with 8x11 DD coil and the concentric coil for it. If you look at the targets they use a silver dime on there too; and the depth given for the AT Pro in Pro/Zero mode with the 8x11 coil is 10 inches...same as what I'm getting with the AT Gold and same size coil. This video someone made, shows the same numbers I am getting with my Gold with both coils. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPX_LE9_y3I

The difference to me between the two is in the audio. I can get a lot more/detailed target info out of the Gold than I ever could with the Pro. With a press of the button I can go from Disc mode to a true all metal mode and really get a feel of the size and shape of a target, then another button press and I'm back in disc mode.

Thanks Daniel, I've been following you and the Gold on the other forum. I have had a pro myself and really liked it. Particularly the audio and it was very good in trash. Been thinking about getting another Pro or maybe a Gold. HH jim tn
