In an area of a knocked down home I have hunted before and I ran my coil over it and got a nickel signal but when I looked down and it was just sitting on top of the ground nice and pretty.
I thought it was just a regular modern nickel but when I picked it up and looked I saw the Indian so that was surprising.
It definitely had been in the ground for a long time from the red color so it is possible I dug it up before with a coin in the same hole and didn't notice it fall out of the plug when I turned it over.
It wasn't a washout area so it showed up from somewhere underground so always will be a mystery but who cares...I got me another buff!
I swung over it first before I saw it so I am counting it.
Lately these types I find have mostly had readable dates but this one is pretty smooth still, I think I see a hint of something there.
I am going to try to use the frozen vinegar/hydrogen peroxide method to clean it better and Ser if I can raise a date on the thing so stay tuned for results from that experiment.
