a spin today with the GT -Se Pro and At Pro

only problem............hardly any targets to find.

my plan was to let the GT guy find some and the Se Pro guy and i would come in and see if i could hear them with the At Pro................worked for what few targets we found.

Se pro guy got the mumbles after 1 hr. and like 4 targets............he bailed

GT guy forgot his boots and was unable to work toooo deep near the water's edge.

today was the first long hunt with the at pro and after 3 hours i will say most of the minelab guys will not fall in love with this heater...............on iron we get null or hit and then a null to let u know u passed over something............the at pro gives u lots of hearable information.

hear all iron, but iron and bottle caps have there own sound, so u do not dig it, BUT U HEAR IT.............va beach is loaded with it.........small flakes to large and after 3 hours...oh boy.

for dirt diggers...........all this info. is probably great...........i am going to re-read the manual again, i maybe able to raise the iron level and have it void of sound......i hope

va beach is a bit saltier than the bay, ground balanced the same......13............but ran a bit more noisier in pro mode today when i was scraping the coil, raised up, it was fine and ran smooth and quiet except for the iron i found.

been some comments about weight..........most say it is light, well after 5 full months of retirement and hunting with just a straight shaft and coil....almost everyday............IT IS NOT LIGHT.

somewhere on sunday for surfchurch.

good luck

You can turn iron audio off I think and up the iron discrimination to about 30 and that will make help on the iron I think will test it out and get back to you.

Max,.....Road trip Janurary, VB ? Gotta see the ATPro in action, along with the Franken brothers....Think you can get someone to shoot some video for us, maybe a couple diggers...........Gee, I sure miss them.......

Hey Max tried the same thing with the strait shaft. Was able to use a different shaft and add a washer not even sure what detector it was for just one I had laying around. Did not feel to balance any better to me on the strait shaft went back stock. Maybe we can get Garrett to make a coil with a long cord.

probably last forever in the dirt and dry sand, but i worry in the big waves.

big coil bolt, thin little sides.............keith said the coil is a new style epoxy.........maybe plastic is aerospace TUFFFF..........

You won't notice a null like in your Minelab, but it should be a lot less anoying to you.

Mr. Bill

that wooden handle on the steel scoop is heavy i had that before now i have a empty fiberglass handle much better

1.) does fiberglass float ?

2.) is it easy to grip when wet?

scoops, i have has many over the years, i hated the wooden handle ones with the 90* handle, most were heavier and had bigger holes.

when i got this scoop i said oh boy here we go again............about 5 days later i realized i was 100% wrong in my thinking on the 90* angle part.

M H O.......for me..............i will never go back to using any other type of handle ever for water work...........the wood is very easy to grip and i can just toss it off to the side and have both hands free, it stands straight up most of the time or when waves push it over, the top foot or so is still exposed.

i like the wood

i only use it to double check the target for iron................that is a very good feature for sure.

i was just saying, most of the minelab guys probably would not like all that extra info..........or whatever they will call it.

You can find the nice ones that fits right at True Value. I searched Lowes and HD no go! I finally found a digger at True Value that had the larger square handle and ordered 2 of the handles that fit them. They were actually cheaper than the lighter weight ones they had for replacements in store. They need to look up the number on the heavy duty digger to find the right order number for the better handles. No shipping cost, if the store ordes it in. I have a scoop just like Max's and one that I had custom made. They both are good scoops. I sold my "Dick the Bruiser" Nuttall! Great scoop if you are young! But for up here in the Northwest lakes I prefer the wood handled ones. If I could find one I would like to try one of those Miller scoops. If you got one I will pay a premium for it.

Best regards and have fun!

Oh my!! Where can I find some helpers that those?!

he makes them for around 30.00 bucks............

one of the 5ft ones is / was a wooden square wheel barrel handle, i had him turn it round for me and then he made me 1 from some ash he had. he said the wheel barrel one was hickory he thought.

i have not used the 5footers yet.............i will use them in the bay where the 4ft. job is just a shade to short. my buddy bobby has beach brute at 60 inches.........really works good in the chest/neck deep zone, so now i have 60in. wooden

Max, I know you have probably posted but what kind of scoop do you have in here. I have been to Pompano Beach (Reilly's) and they do not have them and I want one. Long handle would be great for me as the standard scoops are way to short when in deep water. I want one before next year even though we can still hunt here. I habe a new machine CZ and pinpointing is not easy for me in the water. I am tired of digging two or three scoops with the standard round scoops. Help appreciated.
