I started out at the old fish camp, trying to figure out if it had a swimming area, can't find any clue as to where it was, if they had one. Found another derelict boat, still to muddy to get close to it, you sink about ankle deep.

There are old pilings sticking up out of the water. That was a major port in the 1800's. There in Enterprise in front of the children's home. President's would stay at the hotel there.

My sister and I took a trip across the Everglades National Park. Some of it was completely dry. Along the road there were markers where the culvert passed under the road and there was usually a puddle of water at each one of them and usually at least one gater in each puddle.

At one, there were two ~8' gators to the side of the puddle. Each one had a firm bite into the side of the other one and would not let go. We had a steep berm between us and them and we got to within probably ten feet of them and they acted like we weren't even there. The smallest one had drawn blood on the slightly larger one.

I guess they were fighting over the water. I guess it could have been something like mating or protecting the young. But, it is sure getting dry for the gators there. I notice the canal seemed to be full of seemingly more content gators.

and the gators you saw were engaging in rough sex

For the most part they are more afraid of us than we are of them, Heck I've water skied over gators, scares the bejesus out of them.

Most of that is private property and is loaded with snakes since the water is so low right now. Enterprise is one of the older towns in FL. with an old Indian war fort down the shore a piece.
