A sobering find

After work today I took one of my detectors and hunted for an hour or so where the old city highschool was located until the early 1960's. One of the finds was the once silver plated heart in the pic. It was pretty deep, at least 8 inches down and I was really surprised when I saw the name on it. Eddie Harrison was a friend when we were in our late teens and early twenties. He was a fun guy to be around, always playing jokes or pulling gags on people and everyone who knew him liked him. When he was 25 or 26 he had a wreck and was killed. His car was knocked off the road and ended up upside down in a bar pit, he was knocked unconscious and drowned in 6 inches of water. I hadn't thought about Eddie in years but finding the heart with his name on it brought back a lot of memories, and also a case of the melancholies.

I have never found anything that I knew the person that lost it. Nothing like that.
A voice from the past.....

From reading your many stories, you sure have lots of exciting things happening over there in Mississippi. Was Eddie Harrison originally from your area? This is a very interesting story, thanks for sharing. Please have a great day! Kelley (Texas)
