She was born Sept. 13, 1890, in Benton County to the late Solomon and Phobe Rutherford. Survivors include one son, five grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, 95 great-great-grandchildren and 38 great-great-great-grandchildren.
According to the local media Ma Ma Bettie was the second oldest person in the United States before her death and was as mentally sharp as ever. She outlived all her kids but one, five grandkids and two great grand kids. She had a rough hard life, most of it under very difficult conditions, and saw a lot of changes in her time on earth but according to all who knew her she spent her life making people happy. I'm not a very religious person but I think God just might have a special place for her.
