A sluice without riffles?

I am always on the lookout for new gold recovery technology so I ran a test on this piece of equipment while on a trip last week to the Downieville area of the Mother Lode. Check out the video.

Look's like an interesting concept. I like the speedy cleanup. Do you think you could just re run the cons to enrich them?

$95 + tax and shipping puts for the mini is a bit pricey considering the competition i.e. the le trap @ $90. (which would be better compared to there prospector model @ $195) And who in there right mind would pay $295 for a 4' sluice (there Miner model)

As for no riffles what is the thing on the end if not a riffle?

I would have put another (larger with miners moss) sluice below to see if anything got past the unit and to see how fast it would run material.

Thanks for the video!

Hey Chris,

I haven't had a chance to run more tests on the unit...I will try running some cons.
I agree the pricing is a bit much...but you don't need to haul around classifiers and multiple buckets. I bought the unit to do surveying on new prospects. I will haul out the A52 when I find a production spot. I will be doing a test to determine the fine gold loss and will post my results. The physics involved with the gold trap at the end of the sluice indicate that it could be overloaded by feeding too fast....I will test that too.
Thanks for commenting,
Rick
