A short hunt at an old house with the AT..

My plans fell through yesterday so I decided to get out to an old house I've been hitting off and on for about a year. The place has been picked over by many detectorists, but sometimes still yeilds a surprise or two. The iron at this place is incredible but I think the AT is right at home here! The response time is fast, and I can tell each peice of iron I swing over, and then when I pass over something else in the mix. For the one target you'll see in the vid, I could swing and get machine gun iron signals but then a good signal, then right back to multiple iron again. The DD coil on the AT is very good for seperation and I finally zeroed in over the target and knew it was something decent.. So the video isn't really educational, but really just my fun for the afternoon. Sorry for the quality-the more I use the Flip camera the more I want something better!

I enjoyed the video. Thanks for taking the time to do that. It is the next best thing to being there. I will watch every one you post.

Thanks.

It's nice to see that in Winter. It's been snowing for days here.

Good job and tell us what that coin was!

HA! Sorry-I meant to post that originally.. It is a 1956 Mexican fifty cent peice! I also found a tiny religious pendant or charm. I think it's made of silver and I have to use a strong magnifier with a built-in light to really see any details at all. Otherwise a few old buttons, tons of foil and iron bits, and a few unidentifiable relics that I stacked up on a windowsill in the house. Oh-I also found an old teaspoon, not silver. It's on the sill also.

My future plans for this place are to keep working the porch area till it yeilds a good coin. I know there has to be one there!! All the dirt in front of the porch area is raised by the action of the plow coming so close to the house for so long. I plan to build a sifter to put the dirt through as I excavate down to the original level of the ground. I also want to finish cleaning the porch area completely and cut some of the low branches, and pull the supports down so I don't get a nasty cut by a nail. Lots of work for a place that I'm sure won't yeild MUCH, but I'm also sure hasn't given up it's last goodies yet either. Sadly, the other sides of the house (2 more porches) have been taken over by poison ivy. There are vines as big as a shovel handle growing on the trees and walls!

I'm getting the itch to take the AT to a house in E. Texas that I have permission for. It's a cool old old place that has only been detected once-by me! It's owned by some relatives and they'll only allow me, by myself, to access the place. It's crawling with critters, even wild pigs stop by pretty regularly! Last time I was there, I had to retreat with my tail tucked-the iron was just TOO bad for the X to handle even with the 6" coil. The AT should be way different!

Good Video Thanks for sharing your adventure

Good finds for sure ...

DNAG now i gotta decide about the AT !!!!!!
