A serious Tejon question....

About 4 years ago I was seriously interested in this machine, but found a way to put a "tab check" with toggle switch on my Silver umax to where it operated similar to the Tejon. Lately my interest has been piqued again, especially after today when I was using my Silver in this manner(I normally just leave it on min. disc. and dig everything). My question is on the topic of mineralization. There seems to be as many posters saying the Tejon's not very deep in mineralized soil as those who say it's malarky. It seems to me that a g/b would not fail that miserably. My ground is moderate mineralization and I don't think I would have any problems, but I would like to know from any experienced users about the truth of the matter as I think after careful consideration this could be my final machine in my arsenal. Thanks to all.

Go to the Tesoro site and read the article on the Tejon, it was tested here in Texas and in Wisconsin where the mineralized soil gives some issues with some detectors. It's a good article. and explains how and why they chose to have it tested in two different places when they were developing it.

1. for gosh sakes don't mod your Tesoro as you will be voiding the best warranty in the business.

2. get yourself a TeJon as you will be amazed at its workable depth and nothing wrong with the ground balance only perhaps those that do not properly ground balance.
you will do fine in your neck of the woods ought to cover it all.

Over the years certainly Tesoro produced some fine units but depth has always been an issue but I am happy to say unit in question will certainly keep up with the big boys all in a light package backed by a warranty unsurpassed in the industry...

Its your unit and your decision whether to mod or not, certainly not knocking anyones ability as there are areas where extreme mineralization can cause problems with any unit. Last but not least can only add opinions in my neck of the woods which has moderate minerlaization..

Thanks Jay and Dan-am about to go to the Tesoro site and found another site that tested it against the Minelab Explorer with results that were favorable. It's too late for the mod on my Silver--however-it was nothing more than tack-soldering a special variable tubular resistor w/3 prongs across the terminals of the existing disc pot and running the white wire to a spdt toggle to have a common for both the pot and the resistor. I'll leave the major stuff to the geeks.
