A rock?

Scenario84

So I had a first today as far as finds go... I had a solid signal on my safari, very clear and repetitive. I dug down, moved the plug and a baseball-sized rock out...then nothing. So I passed my detector over the plug....nothing. It was the darn rock. Just a round, granite (maybe) looking rocking. But it gave off the clearest high iron almost aluminum tone and ID. I've heard of "hot rocks" but don't really know what they are. And I've only heard people in the desert hunting gold nuggets mention them. Any info on why this rock rang like there was a nail or something inside it? I'm guessing it has an iron vein maybe? It's new to me so any help all you experienced detectorists can throw at me would be very interesting to say the least. Thanks!

Did the detector hit on the rock after it was removed from the hole?
Meteorites are mostly Iron, but they're usually not much bigger than a peanut, but every once in while a bigger one can be found. Another thing about meteorites is they will stick to a magnet and should have somewhat of a melted or rounded point or bullet shape to one area of it.
