Kellyco's 8X6 SEF (Butterfly) Coil

For the White's

Spectra V3/V3i, DFX, MXT/MXT Pro and M6

Thats a really nice review Lary! Makes me want to go get one for sure. Thank you for the time you put in and the nice article w/pix.

He told you how high an RX rating it would run. It is not V rated as there are no V rated coils on the market but Whites.

Great review, always enjoy reading good info!

Good review Larry. That coil is #2 on my list of coils to purchase. My #1 is a 10X12 SEF. I have seen both in action and know what they will do and not do. It just so happens they fill a gap in the available White's coils in my opinion. White's had talked about developing a butterfly and never did so a guy has to do what a guy has to do. Looking forward to getting mine and bridging the gap. Of course I would rather have White's, but if they don't have them they don't have them.

The 10X12 SEF is my primary coil Steve, but just because I had one from the DFX days. I don't think I would purchase one if I was already using the D2. Performance is about the same for me, just a little more coverage is the main advantage. It might work better in Indiana though.

I use the D2 now and I am looking for more coverage without giving up the depth. Keeping the weight down is important to me as I don't like swinging those heavy ones. The 6X8 will fit nicely between my 6x10 and 4x6 shooter.

Thanks for the review Larry, I was curious as to how that coil performed on the V. I also have a 10 x 12 SEF and like it. As for air testing I never found anything in the air:crylol:

 I found my truck once doing air testing. It was a good 42 inches away.........:yikes:

I am looking into purchasing the 10x12 SEF coil for my V3i. I have heard things like "I never take it off" and "I find coins so deep with this thing", yet according to Steve he does not see any depth advantage. Is it worth spending the money? I have the Super 12 (which I am selling to cover the cost of the SEF) the D2, the 950 and the 5.3.

I am really interested in using the SEF for my "hunted out" site which is now void of signals from years of using the above coils. I feel that there are many deeper targets which I just cannot reach with any of my current coils.

We seem to have mixed reports on the 10X12 Neil. It seems like a lottery if you get a good nulled coil or not. I have an older one that I use almost all the time and testing against the D2, it is pretty much even. I don't know if improvements has been made since the V came out or not. Information from Kellyco has been hard to come by, probably because they don't know either. Maybe Kellyco can send me a newer 10X12 to put through the paces.

Neil.
Of course this is only my opinion...but I have almost every coil I can get for the V3 and nothing I have will go as deep as the D2. That includes my 12x15 butterfly.
I do use the 10x12 sometimes when I want ground coverage more than the D2 can provide.
Remember, this is my experience here in my soil and my setting. Others may have different outcomes.

Forgot to mention in my previous post, Great job on the review Larry!
